During the Christmas Break

This is a good time to evaluate what has been done and some new ideas. Here are a few jpegs of the pieces I thought turned out well. A little fine tuning here and there and we can only improve. The first piece is a skate boarder guy with his favorite foods, like fries, shake, pizza and of course his skate board. The Artist thought it would be a great idea to do a panorama, or environment for him as well. We were happy with the results and the development of these creative ideas. The mugs are made by three different Artists as Christmas presents for their parents.

This was the last day of class for 2010. The class is already making plans for 2011. The Big Art Adventure Lives Large and Wild in Southwest Detroit. We thank you for your donations and support.

"The Store"

The kids are excited about starting the store and all the parts it takes to run a business. We had our first round table business meeting with signage, pricing and locations the topics of conversation. It was a serious meeting and the excitement proved to be very productive. I see improvement every week with the work and the way they respect each other. I'm very proud of them, can't wait to see what develops from our first Art Class at COMPAS, in Southwest Detroit.

Today we have a new work table, and it's nice and roomy. More room the better, we have elbows flying. This is also the day we worked on our store. We are making a store and learning about pricing and photos and display. We are excited about this, and next week our Christmas Party, which we are also excited about. So stay tuned for up coming news on all the above.

Our painters are creating wonderful paintings ! A few are posted here.

Three Classes

We are doing Clay, Painting and Crafts.
Each class complementing the other, with the Holidays in between. In the Clay and Painting classes we are making products that can then be used with the crafts class for the store. The children are using the crafts class to make the classroom they need to create in and a Market, or what we call the Store, to learn about marketing, commissions and an occasional sale or two. Supply and demand and quality vs. quantity, lessons worth exploring. The time goes by fast and we learn a lot.

Students

The students have a great time showing off their work. Each week they return with new and exciting ideas. As our studio develops and the Art work piles up to the ceiling we continue to create right here in Southwest Detroit. Busy hands creating and designing every Saturday morning.

We have around 12 students, all ages and sizes. And what we have in common is we all like to create. So through this BLOG we will be sharing our projects and some of our latest creations.
